Why We're Different
Everyone’s talking about “resilience.” Organizations are expanding therapy services and opening trauma centers left and right. Why is Fortify Israel any different?
1
Crafted by Clinicians
Though we don’t provide therapy, our curriculum was thoughtfully developed by an expert psychologist with a background in trauma education. Our cohort participants are trained by clinicians with deep experience in their fields who also understand how to manage a classroom.
2
Training Teachers, Embedded in Schools
Other resilience training programs exist, though none are specifically designed for teachers. Our program trains classroom educators to recognize signs of acute trauma in their students and create spaces within the school in which all children can process difficult emotions, in addition to preparing them to deal with the unprecedented social and emotional challenges facing students this year.
3
Serving the Underserved
By bringing trauma-informed care and resilience training into classrooms, our reach is far beyond the self-selecting few who find their way to a resilience center. Moreover, this model allows us to reach the Chareidi community by bringing resilience training to their home turf.
4
Bridging the Gap
Our model doesn’t seek to replace the services that exist. Instead, we equip teachers to serve as first-responders and community educators: identifying who needs therapy and providing resilience training to the masses who may not seek it out themselves.
